Blaze SIP Network Solutions
Could your business operations improve with Blaze Networks?
The move away from traditional phone services (analogue / ISDN) and on to an IP based solution is happening across the UK. Openreach is preparing the UK for two major changes. Firstly, the gradual migration of traditional voice (PSTN and ISDN) services to all-IP technology (e.g. VoIP) by December 2025 – essential on “full fibre” lines where electrical signals are no longer used. Secondly, the complete switch-off of the copper network in favour of FTTP (phased, but unlikely to be fully completed across the UK until several years after 2025).
Businesses need to be preparing for this change and to assist with this move Blaze Networks offers a range of IP connectivity products, the most popular of which are SIP Trunks – physical connections which can carry multiple channels (including many DID phone numbers & calls) over digital lines.
What is SIP?
Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) is a signalling protocol that is used for initiating, maintaining and terminating real-time sessions that include voice, video and messaging applications to multiple parties. It is a powerful and efficient communications protocol allowing people around the world to communicate over the internet.
Unlike similar services, such as analogue or ISDN trunks, SIP trunks can carry all forms of media including voice, data, and video. As a result, SIP is usually preferred by companies with numerous branches or remote workers, whose employees depend heavily on multimedia communications.
Benefits of SIP
There are many advantages inherent in the move to SIP. These include:
The monthly fee to have a number of lines installed at your office drops significantly with SIP Trunks. DDIs cost a lot less, and call costs are much lower.
Better customer service
Geographical and international numbers can be quickly and easily added to your SIP Trunk and terminated on your IP PBX – you can give customers more options to dial in at a significantly lower cost. Customers can contact you more easily for improved customer service and more convenient sales enquiries.
Move offices and keep the same number
SIP Trunks are not fixed to a location, so it’s easy to move offices without having to change your stationary or inform your customers. No need to pay to forward phone calls to the new offices.
No VoIP Gateways
SIP Trunks will eliminate the need to buy and manage VoIP Gateways. All phone calls come in via IP. No extra conversion often means better quality too.
Use a modern IP PBX
Modern IP PBX / Unified Communications solutions provide increased productivity, mobility and boost sales. Connecting an IP PBX to SIP Trunks is much easier than via the PSTN or ISDN. You can go on-premise or hosted with solutions such as Microsoft Teams Phone System or the Mitel platform; the choice is yours.
It is easy to adjust the number of trunks to your PBX to reflect changes in call volumes. A simple phone call will allow you to add trunks, and often this can be done immediately. No more delays in having additional lines installed and then having to upgrade your old PBX to handle more lines!
