Blaze Screen Email
Could your business operations improve with Blaze Networks?
Blaze Screen™ secure email filtering identifies threats and SPAM, only allowing genuine and clean mail to be passed to inboxes.
Blaze Screen™ is an email threat and spam filtering solution with email business continuity capability to ensure your business is both protected and has uninterrupted mail flow. It is an important element in Blaze’s range of solutions for Cybersecurity.
Delivered by Blaze as a managed service, Blaze Screen protects against modern day threats through malware detection, phishing defence and spam prevention. These additional security layers reduce the size of a customer’s surface for cyberattacks whilst enhancing business efficiency by reducing nonrelevant or undesirable content like spam.
According to the Verizon 2019 Data Breach Investigations Report, 94% of malware is delivered via malicious email. Today’s malware is no longer just executables as attachments: it is increasingly common for attackers to embed Java, VB script, or active Flash files within other more common (for the end user) file types such as Microsoft Office or Adobe PDF files. Malware is easily and inexpensively changed to bypass traditional email filters and the embedded code will often exploit system vulnerabilities in order to be installed without requiring any end user action whatsoever. Likewise, phishing emails increasingly attempt to tricks users to enter credentials for sites to then gain access to accounts, or to impersonate what appear to be emails coming from someone internally requesting some indirectly harmful action.
To combat these new threats and better protect against novel attack vectors Blaze Screen provides a comprehensive, multi-layered approach to address all inbound and outbound email traffic. As with other secure email gateway solutions, it intercepts problem emails before they reach end-users in the first place and, as indicated on the accompanying diagram, Blaze Screen prevents threats from entering corporate networks through advanced sandboxing and other techniques.
Blaze Screen Email Filtering and Security
Best of Breed Technology
Blaze deliver Blaze Screen as a managed service using sophisticated Secure Email Gateway technology from one of our industry-leader partners, Fortinet. This is continually tested as part of VBSPAM certification and regularly receives VMSPAM+ rating. In the most recent test (March 2019) the technology was measured at having a 99.95% catch rate with 0% false positive. It has been independently validated for high catch-rates, leading accuracy and excellent overall security efficacy by testing firms including SE Labs, VB Labs, ICSA, and NSS, among others, and was recently awarded an ‘AAA rating’ by SE Labs.
Key Features of Blaze Screen™
Powerful anti-spam and anti-malware are complemented by advanced techniques like outbreak protection, content disarm and reconstruction, sandbox analysis, impersonation detection and other technologies to stop unwanted bulk email, ransomware phishing, business email compromise and targeted attacks. Blaze Screen™ uses market-leading antispam protection which uses machine learning and intelligence sharing with all Fortinet Security appliances for increased security / detection rates.
Advanced Sandbox Analysis
To deal with highly targeted and frequently changing attacks, Blaze Screen uses sandbox analysis techniques in which advanced behaviour-based technologies detonate all attachments in an isolated environment on a virtual machine, where it is checked to see whether any malicious activity occurs.
Content Disarm and Reconstruction
Additional protection is provided to protect against embedded code with our content disarm and reconstruction functionality. This removes the embedded code components while maintaining the original file format. (For example, removing macros from excel files whilst keeping the working xls format).
Often a malware email campaign will include a link which contains no malicious content initially and as a result passes through mail filtering to the user’s mailbox. Attackers then activate malicious content on the website a short period after sending the email so that when the user opens the link in the email it contains the malicious content. Blaze Screen redirects all links a user clicks in an email to go through Blaze Screen where it is categorised and checked for malicious content at the time the user clicks on it offering continuous protection.
More than a dozen sender, protocol and content inspection techniques shield networks and users from unwanted bulk email. It starts with assessing IP, domain and other reputations and continues with various validation methods such as bounce, authentication and recipient verification as well as DMARC, SPF and DKIM checks. Finally, message structure and content are analysed based on the digital signature, keywords in context, image analysis, embedded URIs and more advanced techniques such as behaviour analysis and spam outbreak protection. Working together, these techniques consistently identify and block 99.98% of spam in real-world conditions.
Integrated Data Protection
A robust set of capabilities for data loss prevention, email encryption and email archiving to safely deliver sensitive emails and protect against the inadvertent loss of data. These features facilitate compliance with corporate policies and industry regulations.
Support for Any Mail Platform
Blaze Screen can be used in combination with any mail platform connected to the Blaze Private Core Network. This includes Microsoft 365, on-premise Microsoft Exchange, Google G-Suite, and alternative platforms such as ProtonMail, atmail, and Zimbra.
Blaze Screen provides a secure email gateway that stops volume-based and targeted cyber threats contained in emails received by a company. It helps secure the dynamic enterprise attack surface, prevents the loss of sensitive data, and maintain compliance with regulations. The cost to the business in the event of a malware attack from potential data breach, impact on brand loyalty, GDPR fines, cost of payments which have been made due to being tricked, downtime to the business in the event of ransomware attack, and others are all considerable. Blaze Screen provides significant risk-mitigation against what is the largest cyberattack vector by far: email.
